OHHA Bylaws Changes, January 1996
There was some confusion at the October 16, 2002 General meeting about when
newly elected OHHA officers took office. It's January 1st, as this page clarifies.
Above is the first part of page 1 of the OHHA official minutes
from August, 1996.
It reflects the change in bylaws that was voted on and approved
by the attening members of the January, 1996 General Meeting.
Notes & History:
- Tue, 8 Oct 2002 09:56:36; Doug Sprague asked me for the by-laws because he said that
Bijan Mashaw wanted a copy. (See the email below.)
- At that time I thought the bylaws I had were not the up-to-date.
After some searching I hadn't located any updated bylaws.
- Because Doug had indicated that the desire for bylaws corresponded to the October 16th, 2002 meeting
I forwarded the latest I had to Doug. There was no indication to me about what part of the bylaws
Mr. Mashaw was interested in.
- Included with my early reply to Doug was my statement that I thought that these bylaws
were not up to date. See email below.
- I also sent a copy (of the latest file I had) to Mr. Mashaw.
- In assembling information for the transition to the new (2003) OHHA Board
I came across these minutes (above) that verify that my recollection was, in fact,
correct and that the bylaws had been updated.
- October General Meetings, along with January change of boards have
been going on since October 1996, without any comment or objection.
- The reasons for this change were outlined in the newsletter announcing the vote:
- Greater neighborhood participation
- Better transition from the Old Board to the New Board.
- On even further investigation, and mor straightening out of my files I found
my actual typed (computer printed, I presume) copy of the bylaws as Christina
Roberts re-entered them and passed them out at the board meeting. These
Secretary-typed notes should be considered definitave, although even withouth the
phrase "in the year subsequent to the General Meeting" the meaning is
clear and unchanged. (See final image at the botton of this page.)
I really was doing the best I could with the data I had available to access
in a reasonable period of time.
I appologioze for any confusion.
Respectfully submitted,
Bruce Barrett

Hi Doug,
OK, found one but it's out of date.
Doesn't have the thing that covers elections in October
and terms starting in January. (We used to elect in Dec / Jan
and start serving in Jan.)
I've asked Val for a copy of the wording for the amendment
and will incorporate it.
